Like homeowners’ policies, renter’s insurance provides coverage for your stuff, things like your furniture, electronics, clothes all the items that make up your home. Covered perils (or things that cause damage to your belongings) include fire, vandalism, theft, plumbing and electrical malfunctions, some damage that is weather-related and other named hazards. Renters insurance also provides liability coverage that can protect if you were to damage the home or apartment you were renting accidentally.
